The short version

There's no account. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.
Everything you log about your quit (your plan, slips, cravings, notes and moods) stays on your phone, encrypted. We can't see it.
No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and we never sell or share your information.
If you buy Unpuffed Plus, Apple handles the payment and our purchase provider, RevenueCat, keeps an anonymous record so your purchase works.
You can erase everything in the app at any time: You → Delete all data.

What stays on your phone

When you use Unpuffed you create information about your quit: what you're quitting and how much you used, what it cost, your quit date and approach, slips (with any note and moods you add), and cravings (with any moods and triggers you tag). This information:

Is stored only on your device. We don't have servers that receive it, and the app doesn't sync it to us or anyone else.
Is encrypted. The app encrypts it (AES-GCM) before saving. The encryption key is kept in your iPhone's Keychain and, if you use iCloud Keychain, synced by Apple to your other devices so a new phone restored from backup can still read it. Apple's iCloud Keychain is end-to-end encrypted.
May be included in your device backups. If you back up your iPhone (to iCloud or a computer), the encrypted data is included like any app's data, under your control.

Widgets

So home and lock screen widgets can show your streak while your phone is locked, the app shares a small summary with its own widgets, stored on your device only: your start date, your weekly spend, which days had a slip, today's count of cravings ridden out, and whether you have Plus. It never includes notes, moods, triggers, products or amounts.

What we collect

Purchases (only if you buy Unpuffed Plus)

Payments are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details, name or Apple ID. To unlock Plus and make "Restore" work, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription service. RevenueCat receives:

a random, anonymous app user ID created by the app (not linked to your name, email or Apple ID by us),
your purchase history for Unpuffed (which plan, when, trial status, renewals and cancellations), and
basic technical information needed to validate purchases, such as app version, device model and country or region.

We use this only to provide Plus and to understand, in aggregate, how the app is doing (for example, how many people choose yearly vs. monthly). RevenueCat processes it on our behalf under its own privacy policy. None of your quit information is ever sent to RevenueCat.

If you never buy Plus, the app still contacts RevenueCat to show current prices; that request carries the anonymous ID and technical information above, but no purchase.

What we don't collect

We don't collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, location, photos, health records or browsing history. The app contains no advertising, no analytics or crash-reporting services, and no tracking. We don't use your information for advertising and we don't sell or "share" it (as those terms are used in U.S. state privacy laws).

Permissions the app may ask for

Permission	When and why
Notifications	Only if you start a free trial, to remind you two days before you're billed. The reminder is created on your phone; we don't send push notifications.
Add to Photos	Only when you tap Save Image on a share card, to save that image. The app can't see or read your photo library.

You can change either permission at any time in the iPhone Settings app.

Things you choose to share

Share cards are images you create and share through the iPhone share sheet. What's on them (for example, your number of days or money saved) goes wherever you send it. Unpuffed never names the product you quit on a share card.

The app links to other services, such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, government health information (National Cancer Institute, Smokefree.gov, CDC) and the App Store. Those services have their own privacy practices.

Consumer health data

Information about nicotine use can be considered consumer health data under laws such as Washington's My Health My Data Act. Unpuffed keeps that information on your device, encrypted; we do not collect, sell or share it, and we do not use it for any purpose other than showing it back to you in the app.

Deleting your information

In the app: You → Delete all data erases your plan, slips and cravings and destroys the encryption key, so any leftover copies (for example, in old backups) can't be read.
Deleting the app removes its data from your phone.
Purchase records: Apple keeps your App Store purchase history. RevenueCat's record is tied only to an anonymous ID; if you'd like it deleted, email us and we'll help as far as we can identify it (because we don't know who you are, we may need your help, such as the date of purchase).

Age

Unpuffed is for adults 18 and older. It isn't directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

This website

unpuffed.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts or fonts. Like any website, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and time of request) for a short period for security and reliability. We don't use them to identify you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct or delete personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. Because your quit information stays on your device, you control it directly. For anything else, email us and we'll respond within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.

Changes

If we change how Unpuffed handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change means sending your information somewhere new, we'll tell you in the app first.
